Austria

Well Austria is pretty different to San Fran! We stayed two nights in Vienna with Laura, a friend of Deb´s. It is a lovely city with just too much to take in in such a short time. Plenty of good coffee & cakes to be had! I just loved walking around looking at things. We went to the fine art gallery and looked at some amazing artwork. On Thursdy we took the train to Linz. Green rolling countryside. Kate and her friend Evelyn met us at the station. A real buzz to see Kate and the last few days have been fun as we adjust to her in a new context. We went to see her in Lucia at the opera house on Thursday night. Was good, but unfortunately also the time that jet lag seemed to hit both Deb and I. We will see her in the same opera, but in a bigger role, on Sunday.

We are staying with Kate´s friend Evelyn, who is an amazingly busy woman. She has been great to us. Kate had a party in her very small flat last night which was a lot of fun. A very inernational gathering with German as the common language and a few English speakers. People are so much better with languages here - able to speak two or more. We are so lazy and complacent as English speakers (or at least I am).
