A Night at the Opera

On Saturday Deb and I slept in again and then went for a bit of a walk around Linz with Kate. It is a very beautiful city of about 200,000 people situated on the Danube. Plenty of churches, squares a nice old buildings.

On Sunday we went to St Florian with Evelyn. It is an old cathedral town nearby, famous for its pipe organ and the music of Anton Bruckner. The Gothic Cathedral had been knocked down and a Baroque one built in its place. The weather was a bit iffy for summer, but it was a nice day. On the Sunday night we went and saw Lucia di Lammermoor again, but this time with Kate in the role of Alicia. We also had better seats and were not so tired. So all up a much more rewarding experience. It was a real thrill to see Kate do so well - she was so in her element. Also nice to recognise other members of the cast.

Today we went to Salzburg with Evelyn and Kate. Once again a very pretty city and the countryside and the mountains were very beautiful (as you would expect).
